In the future, Norgesfilm will collaborate with the Norwegian Film Institute on film distribution to Norwegian schools. The Film Library opened to the public on April 6, 2020. A number of media outlets have since covered the libraries' film streaming service. The Danish library streaming service Filmstriben lent out a total of 1.7 million films in 2020. This is an increase of 600,000 loans from the previous year.
