The Library Meeting is an important meeting place where we meet many of our library customers. This year, we were also visited by the Minister of Culture and Equality, Lubna Jaffery, at our stand. She was very impressed with what we have achieved with our streaming services, Filmoteket and Filmrommet.
The Library Conference is held every other year and is the largest library conference in Norway. This time it was held April 17-19 in Haugesund.
– Our library customers are from all over the country and they are affiliated with the Filmoteket to provide their patrons with a fantastic digital film offering in their living rooms. Many also use the Filmrommet to hold film screenings (cinema library) in their library. During the conference days, we get a unique opportunity to get to know each other better, exchange experiences and receive valuable wishes and input that are taken into the organization for continuous improvements. We also get time to meet partners and attend relevant lectures for increased industry knowledge, insight and inspiration, says Anders Koppang-Grønn, CEO of Norgesfilm.
It was extra special that we were visited by the Minister of Culture and Equality herself, Lubna Jaffery! She practically danced up the red carpet at Norgesfilm, expressed great joy and enthusiasm for our digital film offering and happily posed for a photo with parts of the editorial staff for our streaming services.
We also had a chat with former Minister of Culture, Trine Skei Grande, who recently started as CEO of the Norwegian Publishers' Association. Skei Grande has followed the Filmoteket since the beginning. As part of the foundation of the Filmoteket in the library industry, we had a meeting with the then Minister of Culture at her office in Grubbegata before the service's launch in 2020. Here we presented our plans to great enthusiasm from her. It was therefore a pleasant reunion and 'thanks for last' in Haugesund.
