The Filmoteket opened to the public on April 6, 2020. A number of media outlets have since featured the libraries' film streaming service.
The purpose of the Film Library is to offer films that meet the libraries' requirements for quality, breadth, versatility and relevance. The films in the service will be available to everyone, and will be a full complement to the large, international commercial streaming services.
Press inquiries, or inquiries from libraries wishing to order the Filmoteket, can be directed to the general manager of Norgesfilm, Anders Koppang-Grønn.
