Filmoteket opened to the public on the 6th of April 2020. A number of media have since then covered the libraries' film streaming service.
The purpose of Filmoteket is to offer films that meet the libraries' requirements for quality, breadth, versatility and relevance. The films in the service will be available to everyone, and will be a full complement to the large, international commercial streaming services.
Press inquiries, or inquiries from libraries wishing to order Filmoteket, can be directed to the general manager of Norgesfilm, Anders Koppang-Grønn.
