The multilingual Filmrommet is a new section of the streaming service Filmrommet with digital educational materials in Ukrainian and Russian. The target group for the service is children and young people who have come to Norway in connection with the war in Ukraine. The project has been developed with support from the Norwegian Directorate of Education.
An inclusive film offering
At the end of August 2022, Norgesfilm received support from the Norwegian Directorate of Education (Udir) to translate teaching materials for 6 films at Filmrommet into Ukrainian and Russian. The background for the grant from Udir is the ongoing war in Ukraine. The teaching materials will help children, young people and adults on the run quickly gain access to teaching materials once they have arrived in Norway. The translations apply to both the films' Norwegian subtitles and digital teaching materials associated with the films, which are currently available at Filmrommet for Norwegian-speaking students.
Editorial and Marketing Manager at Norgesfilm, Tina Andersson, says the multilingual Filmrommet has become an innovative and inclusive learning resource for Ukrainian refugees.
– The films, which are subtitled in Norwegian, Ukrainian and Russian, give children and young people from Ukraine the opportunity to take part in good film experiences and at the same time learn about Norwegian cultural and social life, says Andersson.
The teaching materials and films can be used completely free of charge for three years, until November 15, 2025.
