The Library Meeting is an important meeting place where we get to meet many of our library customers, partners and industry colleagues. This year the conference was held in beautiful surroundings in Molde, specifically at Scandic Seilet, with great views of both the Romsdal Alps and the further development of library streaming services together with the sector.
The Library Conference is held every other year and is the largest library conference in Norway. The venue varies from time to time, and this year's event offered a unique combination of professional input and fantastic scenery.
For us, the Library Meeting is an important arena. Here we have the opportunity to meet both existing and potential library customers face to face, while gaining insight into the needs, wishes and exchange of experiences that are important for the further development of our services, says CEO of Norgesfilm, Anders Koppang-Grønn.
The days in Molde gave us many good conversations with libraries from all over the country. Both Filmoteket and Filmrommet create great engagement. It is incredibly inspiring to hear from the librarians from around the country how the film services strengthen the libraries' relevance to local communities and represent a very popular film offering. Several shared experiences from their own use, and we received useful input that we will take into account in our further planning.
In addition to good conversations at our stand, we took the opportunity to attend relevant lectures and visit Molde's own library. This gave us valuable insight into developments in the library sector, and not least inspiration for how we can contribute even better to the libraries' work to strengthen digital offerings for patrons.
It is always inspiring to meet so many skilled and committed professionals gathered in one place. In addition to the professional enrichment, the Library Meeting gives us a great opportunity to share news about the technical and catalog development of the streaming services we deliver to – and in collaboration with – the libraries. Combined with the impressive, powerful natural surroundings in Molde, this contributed to a very successful conference for us, says Koppang-Grønn.
